I take the bus because it's the right thing to do, not because it's especially convenient. Well, sort of. The park and ride is only a bit more than a mile away — I could walk there, if I wanted to. The bus is a Microsoft service and is free. It's about as convenient as bus service can get. It takes more time than just driving myself, but the real problem is the schedule. The last bus in the morning leaves at 9:20, which leaves me only half an hour to get up and get out the door. I can do it, but getting started like that frequently leaves me half-awake for much of the day.
On Friday, I can spend an hour sitting and surfing and reading email before I get around to thinking about having a shower. There's also flexibility to sleep in a bit more if I didn't sleep well or I'm not feeling good. I have time to get some tasks and errands done before I go to work. Much more civilized and less stressful.
