I Love It When A Plan Comes Together

I had a schedule for today. I had to have a schedule for today, not just my usual to-do list but a schedule, because otherwise I was going to try to do too much and get caught short and stuff. So I made a schedule with all the wisdom born of trying to do too much too often for too many years. I allowed for traffic. I allowed time to eat. I allowed time to just sit down and take breaks. I allowed that after buying heavy flatpack furniture, hauling it up the stairs, and assembling it, I was going to want a shower before going out for the evening. I added padding to my estimates.

The traffic did not happen, meaning that I spent the morning well ahead of schedule. Even after accidentally doing some shopping at RePC, and Ikea proving a tougher nut to crack than usual, I still left both places before I was scheduled to get there. I arrived home half an hour early, which was fortunate because the furniture took half an hour longer to assemble than expected. I had time to sit down. I had time for a shower. I got on the road again on schedule.

I accomplished EVERYTHING I intended to do today, on time, despite Ikea. It was amazing. I'm so psyched that I'm barely aware that I'm about to fall over because I'm so tired and hurt all over.

PS: Ikea is my nemesis. Their stores are literally labyrinths. You start at the beginning and you have to walk through the whole thing to get to the cashiers at the end. Plus, it is frequently very difficult to find whatever it is you went there looking for in the first place. That said, I end up going there from time to time because if you need an odd piece of furniture or something in an odd size, they have it. The particular issue I had this morning is that when I found what I thought I wanted, I discovered that it looked really cheap. I wouldn't have minded if it had been cheap, but it was $100, which was $20 more than it said on the website. So I wandered around a bit and found something else.
